Sahadev: I started out my spiritual path studying the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda in 1987. When I felt drawn to finding others to practice and grow with, I found the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers and eventually became a certified yoga instructor. While at SYVC, I met Sant Keshavadas, and eventually went on two of the pilgrimages that he led to India. In 1999 or so, I started leading kirtan sessions in Mount Shasta, CA, and have been continuing this practice every week or two since then. Meanwhile, I’ve developed my skills to become a sound engineer and recording engineer as my profession.
This type of chanting from the Hindu tradition is all about experiencing the Divine by singing the Divine Names repeatedly and tuning in to their vibration and meaning. With the eyes closed and the heart open, we have access to the bliss and ecstacy that is our very essence. I lead kirtan every week in Mt. Shasta, CA, and it feels like a Divine reset. No matter what happened during the week, kirtan facilitates my return to hOMe base. Therefore, I highly recommend… Chant and be happy!
